Tina and Bobby - mini series
Anybody on here going watch this?

Can't understand how they can get a Scot to play our hero and a Manc girl, no matter how gorgeous she is, to play Tina.

Also why shoot it in Manchester?

Yea he was always ultra careful on tv (like so many players) "well obviously Brian blah blah blah " but he would occasionally smile at something and you got a glimpse of the human being underneath.
That was the actor's job to find the real person but let's be honest it was the Tina show and he was just there to make her look fantastic

Re: Tina and Bobby - mini series
To be fair to the actor who played Bobby, he was very difficult to play, anybody who saw Bobby on chat shows and the like, would know that he was very shy and didn't give anything away when it came to displaying emotions.
For me the whole thing seemed to be done on the cheap and didn't capture the period, and Any Old Iron was right Bobby only ever drunk halves

The guy playing Bobby was such a charisma bypass that you couldn't understand why she was bothered he had left her

Ted - I guess it wasn't that important. Still, I had to laugh when Elton John came in.

Watched all three episodes.

Good in parts but overall a bit poor. Don't think it will win any awards but then again ....

Re: Tina and Bobby - mini series
Just read this on his last days:

"But the rumours reached the press and, in February 1993, Moore issued a statement, confirming the illness. The next evening came the San Marino game. 'He was really unwell,' Stephanie tells me, 'and the press were hungry for pictures - it just wasn't right. But he was there because that was the sort of focused, disciplined man he was. If he said he was going to be somewhere, and do something, he would have done it.'

Moore was still determined to cover the West Ham match against Newcastle the following Saturday. 'I think he must have known that it was probably the last time he would go to West Ham,' says Pearce. 'But Stephanie called me on the Friday saying that she didn't want him to go, that it was too much for the family after all the attention during the week. I phoned Bobby up and told them that I didn't think it was a good idea that he came - I didn't mention what Stephanie had said. What he said will stay with me for ever: "If that's your decision I'll respect it, but I must admit that I'm very disappointed ". It was the only time I ever disappointed Bobby. And that's the last time I ever spoke to him.'

Iron - it's based on Tina's interpretation and a bit of artistic license.

She obviously saw Greenwood as someone without a personality who didn't have a clue about man management.

Re: Tina and Bobby - mini series
It's bollox isn't it. A fucking wardrobe would give a better performance than the useless lump playing Mooro.
And it's stuff like the players singing 'come on you irons' in the showers 25 years before it was sung on the terraces, and Bobby with Greenwood under the east stand 2 or 3 years before it was built. And Bobby drinking pints. I only saw him drink halves.
Also, the portrayal of Greenwood is well out of order. They've made him out to be a bit of a nasty piece of work, which is the opposite of the truth. He was a great manager and a good man, and if wasn't for his legacy we wouldn't be filling the bowl with 57,000 now.
Anyway it's not made for someone like me who watched Bobby play since '62, who met him on a number of ocassions and thought the world of him.

"Why do they show actors playing football, they have no coordination reminded me of watching Alan Stephenson."

And Enner Valencia.

Re: Tina and Bobby - mini series
Not impressed by the portrayal of Bobby Moore and as for Ron Greenwood, it's nothing short of disgraceful.
Of course Tina is the hero, what a trooper all that shopping, all those lunches and all that sitting at home pouting waiting for Bobby to come home.
The title says it all really
